About this Area of Pando
Upper Pando Exclosure is the largest section of the Pando’s land mass spanning some 34 acres of the tree’s landmass. With frontage that spans nearly half a mile along the upper side of Utah Highway 25, the section moves up the steep walls of the Fishlake Basin and offers the most diverse landscapes the tree has to offer. Tightly packed zones of regeneration mixed with treacherously steep lava fields and voids littered with snags. The first area of Pando to be studied and protected starting in the 1980’s, this area shows the power of long-term management stratgey and the need for more research to better understand this botanical wonder without compare.
